Therapy for Neurodivergence in Michigan
Living with Neurodivergence
Navigating the world as a neurodivergent person can be overwhelming. Whether you’ve known for years or are just starting to explore what neurodivergence means for you, you deserve support that sees you clearly and honors the way your brain works.
At Inspired Healing, we provide neurodiversity-affirming therapy for individuals who identify as autistic, ADHDers, or otherwise neurodivergent—formally diagnosed or self-identified. You don’t need to prove anything here. We believe your experience is valid.
Our clients often come to us because they are:
Struggling with burnout from masking or people-pleasing
Dealing with overwhelm, sensory overload, or executive functioning challenges
Exploring identity, self-worth, and what it means to live authentically
Feeling isolated, misunderstood, or unsupported in relationships
Seeking a space where they don’t have to explain the basics
We approach this work with warmth, curiosity, and respect. Therapy might include:
Co-creating systems and supports that actually work for your brain
Understanding the impacts of ableism and internalized stigma
Processing past trauma, including from school, family, or healthcare
Building self-trust, self-advocacy, and resilience
We welcome neurodivergent teens and adults of all genders and backgrounds. Many of our clients are also navigating intersecting identities, including LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, and/or disabled experiences.
You don’t have to change who you are—just be more fully yourself, with support.

Our Approach to Neurodivergent-Affirming Therapy
At Inspired Healing, we approach neurodivergence not as a deficit or disorder—but as a natural and valuable variation in the human brain. Our role as therapists isn’t to “fix” you, but to walk alongside you as you explore what it means to live well in a world that isn’t always built with you in mind.
We center the following principles in our work:
Affirmation over accommodation: We support clients in understanding and accepting their neurodivergence, rather than masking or changing themselves to meet others’ expectations. This approach is rooted in the neurodiversity paradigm, which views brain differences as part of human diversity.
Collaboration over correction: Therapy is a partnership. We’ll co-create tools and strategies that align with how your brain works—no one-size-fits-all advice here.
Autonomy and agency: You are the expert on your life. We’re here to help you clarify what you want and need—not what others expect of you.
Sensory- and accessibility-aware care: We take sensory needs, processing styles, and comfort seriously, whether in-person or virtual. Learn more about sensory processing differences and how they can affect daily life.
Systems-awareness: We recognize that distress often comes from navigating ableism, not from being neurodivergent. We affirm the social model of disability and draw from work like Neurodivergent Insights to inform how we approach identity, environment, and mental health.
Our goal is to provide a space where you can show up fully, feel seen without judgment, and explore what it means to live more authentically—on your own terms.
If this approach resonates with you, contact us to begin your journey with a therapist who understands and supports neurodivergent experiences.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a formal diagnosis to work with you?
No. We support both formally diagnosed and self-identified neurodivergent clients. You are the expert on your own experience, and we trust you.
What if I’m not sure I’m neurodivergent, but I relate to a lot of it?
That’s very common. Therapy can be a great space to explore questions around identity, self-understanding, and neurodivergence—without pressure or expectation.
Do you work with teens and adults?
Yes! Both Justin Work, LMSW and Kali Skodack, LPC work with neurodivergent teens, adults, and young adults. If you’re not sure who might be the best fit, we’re happy to help you decide.
Do you offer virtual therapy?
Yes, we offer both in-person and virtual sessions. Many of our neurodivergent clients appreciate the flexibility and sensory comfort of virtual therapy.
Can you help with co-occurring challenges like anxiety or depression?
Absolutely. Many neurodivergent clients also experience anxiety, depression, or trauma. We take a holistic approach that honors the full picture of your mental health—not just symptoms in isolation.
