What is it?

The word yoga, from the Sanskrit word yuj means to "yoke" or "bind" is often interpreted as "union", or a method of discipline. Yoga can be defined as a spiritual discipline; including breath control, simple meditation, and the adoption of specific bodily postures to promote health and relaxation.

Some benefits of yoga include:

  • Protection from injury

  • Improved athletic performance

  • Cardio and circulatory health

  • Balanced metabolism and weight reduction

  • Increased flexibility, muscle strength, and tone

  • Calm and centered the nervous system

  • Sharpened attention and concentration

  • Reduced muscle tension, strain, and inflammation

  • Stress relief

  • Increased body awareness

  • Improved respiration, energy and vitality

Who is it for?

Yoga is perfect for anyone who is beginning their healing journey and wants to feel more connected to their physical body while learning to quiet their mind. An individual does not need to fulfill any prerequisites before beginning yoga. Any person, at any age or level of activity, can begin a personal yoga practice at any time!

Private yoga sessions

Unlike group classes, private lessons are a one on one experience with an instructor. Private lessons can bring about improvements to one’s mental and physical health and help one achieve personal yoga goals quicker.

Beginning yoga students can sometimes feel overwhelmed in a typical class setting, particularly during their first few classes. It can seem confusing or difficult to keep up, and negative self-talk can arise.

Beginners can avoid feeling overwhelmed or uncomfortable by taking private lessons to get started. A private yoga instructor will demonstrate each posture, and help improve a student's form immediately, which will make it easier to develop proper alignment right away.

This is viable for more experienced yogis as well. Those looking to gain more nuanced feedback in order to help deepen their practice, and take their yoga to the next level.

Acro Yoga is also a great way for couples to reconnect and work as a team through shared weight, balance, and breath. When we work together as one towards a mutual goal of connection and trust--beautiful things can happen!

Public Yoga Classes

Yoga is not just about working out, it’s about a healthy lifestyle. The practice of yoga allows students to find stillness in a world consumed with chaos.  Everyone can feel accepted and included and, unlike other sports or classes that focus on niche clients, yoga tends to offer open arms to all populations. Peace and tranquility achieved through focused mind-body training can really appeal to everyone.
